Una succulenta sudafricana tappezzante (Aizoaceae) con brillanti fiori margarita magenta, usata come coprisuolo rustico.
Full sun for the masses of daisy-like flowers; this is a tough, sun-loving 'ice plant'. In too little light it sprawls and barely blooms.
Very drought-tolerant — water only when the soil is dry, sparingly. The fleshy leaves store water and rot in damp, especially over winter, when it should be kept nearly dry.
Gritty, sharply draining succulent or rockery soil. Wet feet in winter are fatal.
Tolerates heat and, when dry, surprising cold (some are frost-hardy). Low humidity preferred.
Needs little — a single diluted feed in spring is plenty. Over-feeding reduces flowering and hardiness.
Trim back straggly growth after flowering to keep it neat; cuttings root readily. Non-toxic to pets and people.
