Very bright, filtered light — among the highest light needs of cultivated orchids — to flower well; near full sun with slight shade at midday. Leaves should be a light grassy green. Too little light means no flowers.
Water heavily and daily in warm weather (typically grown bare-root in slatted baskets), thoroughly wetting the thick aerial roots, then letting them dry and turn silvery before the next watering. Reduce frequency in cool, dull weather.
Best bare-root in open baskets, or in very coarse, fast-draining medium, with maximum airflow around the roots.
Warm-growing, 20–35 °C; keep above 15 °C. Needs HIGH humidity (60–80%) combined with strong air movement to balance the heavy watering.
Feed weakly but frequently (most waterings) during active growth with a balanced orchid fertilizer; flush with plain water periodically to prevent salt build-up on the roots.
Remove only dead roots and spent spikes; these monopodial orchids resent disturbance, so avoid repotting unless essential. Non-toxic.
