The floral emblem of Queensland, Dendrobium bigibbum (subsp. phalaenopsis) produces arching sprays of long-lasting mauve to magenta flowers on tall canes. A warm-growing epiphyte of tropical Australia, it needs bright light, warmth and a drier, cooler winter rest. It is the principal parent of commercial 'Den-Phal' hybrids. (Renamed from 'Dendrobium bigibbum (tipo phalaenopsis)'.)
