Guzmania lingulata is a brightly coloured tropical bract plant in the family Bromeliaceae, popular as a flowering pianta di appartamento.
Bright, indirect light; evitare il sole diretto, which scorches the strappy leaves and bleaches the colourful bract. Tolerates medium light but flowers (bracts) best in good light.
As an epiphytic bromeliad, keep the central rosette 'tank' topped up with water (use rainwater/filtered water and refresh regularly to prevent stagnation) and keep the soil only lightly moist.
Very free-draining, airy mix (orchid bark plus perlite); the roots are mainly for anchorage.
Warm, 18-27 °C; keep above 13 °C. Loves HIGH humidity.
Feed lightly in primavera e estate with a equilibrato fertilizer at quarter strength, applied to the soil and diluted into the tank occasionally.
The main rosette dies slowly after flowering, producing offset ('pups') to grow on - remove the spent rosette once the pups are established. Non-tossico per pets and people.
