Hedera helix

Hedera helix

English Ivy · Common Ivy

A vigorous evergreen climbing or trailing vine in the ivy family (Araliaceae), widely grown as groundcover and as a pianta di appartamento; berries are toxic.

Guida alla cura

Luce

Bright, indirect light keeps variegated ivies colourful; all-green forms tolerate shade well. Avoid hot direct sun on indoor plants. Good light prevents leggy, sparse growth.

Acqua

Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil dry out; ivy dislikes both drying out and constant sogginess. Reduce in winter. Dry air and dry soil invite spider mites.

Substrato

ben drenante miscela di terriccio.

Temperatura e umidità

Prefers cool to moderate 10-21 °C; tolerates cold and is hardy outdoors. Appreciates moderate to high humidity indoors.

Concimazione

concimare mensilmente in primavera e estate with a equilibrato concime liquido.

Potatura

Trim freely to control its vigorous growth and keep it bushy; cuttings root easily. ⚠️ Leaves and berries are toxic if eaten and the sap can irritate skin - keep away from pets.
