Vanilla planifolia is the commercial source of natural vanilla, a vigorous climbing vine producing greenish-yellow flowers that, when hand-pollinated, yield the cured 'beans'. A warm, humid grower needing support to climb; the world's vanilla crop derives chiefly from this species.
